The inaugural NTU Travel and Learn Program Concludes with Resounding Success in Beijing

The Nanyang Technological University’s (NTU) first-ever “Travel and Learn Program: Exploring China’s Innovation Frontier: Sustainable Business Growth Strategies” has successfully concluded its weeklong immersive experience in Beijing. The program, held from March 10-14, 2025, provided participants with unique insights into China’s dynamic business landscape through a combination of classroom learning and industry visits.

Program Highlights and Achievements

In partnership with Tsinghua University and supported by Wisenet Asia, the program welcomed 49 NTU alumni and Singaporean business executives.  The opening ceremony is held at Tsinghua University’s library auditorium, it featured distinguished speakers including Tsinghua University Vice President Peng Gang (彭刚) and NTU Vice President Boh Wai Fong (莫惠钫).

“Tsinghua University is a significant force in China’s innovation landscape, achieving remarkable results in frontier fields such as the advancement of ‘dual carbon’ strategies and large-scale AI model research,” noted Tsinghua University Vice President Peng Gang during his address. He expressed hope that participants would gain deep insights into China’s rapid development experiences while experiencing Tsinghua’s innovative atmosphere and academic charm.

Comprehensive Learning Experience

The five-day intensive program featured morning classroom sessions at Tsinghua University followed by afternoon corporate visits to leading Chinese technology companies. Participants visited several innovation hubs including:

The curriculum covered critical topics including industrial innovation in the digital economy era, Industry 4.0 and smart manufacturing, big data and cloud computing, investment and financing in China, and green economy principles for sustainable development.

Fostering China-Singapore Business Relations

Singapore Commercial Counselor Ye Qingwen (叶青文) from the Singapore Embassy in China highlighted the vast potential and unlimited opportunities in the Chinese market for Singaporean businesses. The program facilitated valuable networking opportunities with experienced entrepreneurs, business owners, and senior executives from China who shared business insights with participants.

A notable guest speaker included Wang Jing (王敬), founder and CEO of Meishie Education (美世教育) who delivered a keynote on “Decoding International Education Enterprise Strategy and China Opportunities.” The event emphasized education’s core role in enterprise development and innovation ecosystems.

Building Future Collaborations

This program represents an important exploration and collaboration between Tsinghua University and NTU in the field of lifelong education. Vice President Boh Wai Fong encouraged participants to engage deeply with experienced professors, experts, and entrepreneurs to comprehensively understand China’s unique business culture and innovative practices.
