22 December 2023 – The inaugural China-Singapore Youth Leaders’ Workshop 2023 concluded successfully in Fuzhou, China, bringing together 17 exchange students from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and 18 outstanding students from Fuzhou Software Technology Vocational College.
Mr. Xia Fushun, Director of the International Exchange Center, Fuzhou Software Technology Vocational College, set the tone with an insightful opening speech. Emphasizing the workshop’s unique focus on cultivating leadership skills among young leaders, Mr. Xia encouraged interactive exchanges to equip students with practical work skills and unleash their leadership potential. The event also aimed to foster communication and exchanges between Chinese and Singaporean youth.

To break the ice and promote camaraderie, Ms. Poon Kwee Ping, an accomplished HR leader and event speaker, led an engaging icebreaker activity. This activity facilitated collaboration between students from both institutions, laying the foundation for lasting friendships.

The workshop reached new heights with an online session featuring Mr. Wesley Hui, Founder of Netxus Asia, who shared two decades of executive search experience. Mr. Hui provided valuable insights on self-discovery, identifying strengths and passions, and charting post-college paths. He also distinguished between C-level professionals and entrepreneurs, guiding students towards informed decisions for their future endeavors.

After the formal sessions, Fuzhou Software Technology Vocational College organized a cultural exchange, inviting NTU students to explore the school’s “Craftsmanship to Build Dreams” master paper-cutting studio. This immersive experience aimed to deepen Singaporean students’ understanding of Chinese culture, particularly the unique artistic charm of paper-cutting.
