As part of WiseNet Asia’s Corporate Social Responsibility program, the company is helping underprivileged children in Chongqing, China from the Xiaohei and Xiaomei Public Welfare Organization. Established in November 2015, the welfare beneficiaries are mainly poor students in the most marginal county of Chongqing, the Chengkou mountain area. Located at the Northeast of Chongqing, standing in the junction of Chongqing, Sichuan, and Shanxi, Chengkou is one of the poorest counties in Chongqing.

Children under the welfare program receive one-to-one funding, with subsidies for their food expenses every month, the tuition and miscellaneous expenses are being taken care of by the state. Subsidies range from RMB200 per month for elementary school students, RMB300 for junior high school students, RMB400 for high school students, etc. WiseNet Asia supported the welfare group through the following:
– Employees volunteer to sponsored one child each, through paying for their monthly school fees and meal costs
– Donations in the form of basic essentials such as warm clothing and daily necessities items

The program started in January 2011 with Ms Karen Woong, General Manager, WiseNet Asia China sponsoring a junior high school student.

The WiseNet Asia team visited the children in May 2022, during which they made donations to purchase gifts of new warm clothing (warm jacket, long pants, shoes) for the needy children. The purpose of the trip is to meet the needy children and/or their families and pass the warm clothing to them. The team also visited families and a few schools, encouraged the children to study hard. A total of 117 children received the gifts.
